actually, i need a job. 

i had to get reminded that it’s not my ability nor is it a perfect performance that truly matters.

i’m so comfortable singing praise songs that i never had to think about the meaning of songs because i already felt the connection from the get-go. with praise songs, i already knew to whom i was singing to, so i didn’t have to work on this much. but, i have a different song this time.

jasmine, what does this song mean to you?

- honestly, it reminds me of estar so much that it hurts my heart a bit. but, it also makes me grateful that i got to know such a beautiful person in my life.
- the lyrics to this song is something i would like my future students to live by.  i believe in them and i want them to believe that they can do anything they set their minds to.
- i feel like God made me love this song so much because it pertains to the way i feel about myself sometimes. everyone says the same things to me: “you’re the only one in your way.” “you need more confidence.” “you need to believe in yourself.” ironic, huh? i want others to believe in themselves and i believe in others, but it’s so difficult to believe in myself. this is honestly the one song that i can sing most comfortably and i feel like God made this happen because he really wants me to live by these lyrics.

thank you, gigi :) thank you for setting my mind straight and reminding me that there’s a meaning behind every song that you want to convey to the audience. it’s not about my ability; it’s about how much it means to me…
and believe me, after reflecting i’ve learned just how much i need this song and these lyrics in my life.
